Furniture Trends

Contrast in furniture is playing a huge roll in current design trends. For example, in furniture design we are noticing trends of dark modern finishes against light colored walls. Another contrast trend among furniture is utilizing dark wood finishes to highlight lighter colored upholstery.

Contrasting makes the difference in textures as well. We have seen a trend of pairing smooth against rough textures, such as, the roughness of a natural shell or wood against smooth steel. The trend is to add a touch of the unexpected; For instance, mixing a soft chenille sofa with a rough textured horsehair or velvet against metal.
